S.Korean Economic Recovery to Continue: Finance Minister

SEOUL, Nov 9 Asia Pulse - South Korea's economy will continue to maintain its recovery pace

iㅜto the fourth quarter, helped by a pickup in private spending and strong exports, the country's

chief policymaker said Wednesday.

"An economic recovery is forecast to continue through the fourth quarter," Finance and Economy

Minister Han Duck-soo said in a panel discussion organized by local broadcasters.

The minister said it will take time for economic agents to feel economic recovery directly,

so his ministry will maintain expansionary macroeconomic policies for the time being, but these will

be adjusted according to the pace of the recovery.

The South Korean economy, Asia's fourth-largest, expanded 4.4 per cent from a year earlier

in the third quarter after 3.3 per cent growth in the second quarter and a 2.7 per cent expansion in t

he first three months of the year.

For the full year, the economy is expected to grow around 4 per cent.

Meanwhile, Han said the government will continue to ease regulations on financial service businesses.
