Middle school teacher arrested in sex assault on student

A middle school teacher was arrested this morning, charged with taking a 12-year-old student to his home and sexually assaulting him.
Adrian Valdez, 29, of Deerfield Beach, is charged with kidnapping, sexual battery, and lewd and lascivious molestation, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
The Crystal Lake Middle School geography teacher gave the child an after-school detention, then offered him a ride home from the school in Pompano Beach, BSO said.
But instead of taking the boy home, the teacher took the boy to his own home, showed him a pornographic movie, and performed oral sex on him, BSO spokesman Hugh Graf said.
Valdez was arrested at 7 a.m. Tuesday at his home, BSO said.
''He may have victimized other children,'' Graf said. ``People don't just wake up one morning and decide they're going to do this.''
