속도를 늦추자

가을 학기 졸업을 참석한 적이 있었다 한 여름의 석박사들을 보는 느낌이 워낙에 생소하여 아지도

학위 실감을 못하고 있다. 워낙에 굳어진 겨울 졸업이라는 관습 때문일 것이다. 미래는 인터넷 교육

시대. 그 미래는 바로 지금이다. 최근에 타계한 세계적 경영학의 대가 석학 피터 드러커가 2000년

포브스 커버스토리로 WEBUCATION(web + education)을 21세기 가장 강력한 교육 형태로 예언

했었다.지난 세기 가장위대한 경영학 예언자를 꼽으라면 거의 전부가 피터 드러커를 으뜸으로 할

것이다. 여기에는 상당한 딱 맞아 떨어지는 이유가 있으니 바로 "webucation"이라는 신조어이다.

무엇보다도 그의 특이성은 미래 예견 이었다. 경영의 미래, 지도자의 자질 등 지난 해 95세로 삶의

경영을마감하는 순간까지도 탁월함을 쏟아 내었다. 2000년 그의 인터넷 교육의 비젼이란 예언을

사람들은이제야 비로소 겨우 이해하기 시작했다. 인터넷 교육은 유사이래 인류가 개발한 최고최상의

혁신적교육방법이다. 제자와 선생간의1:1교육.배움을 위한 직접적인 교육 분위기이다. 어느시간

어느장소에서든 마음대로 마음만 먹으면 전천후로 배울 수 있다. 보다경제적 보다효과적 이다.

익숙할 때까지 반복학습이 가능하다. 도표나 기타 자료를 학교교육보다 보다 상세히 전달할 수 있다.

피터 드러커가6년전인 2000년에 한 말이다. 지금 우리네 학교는 스승이라는 제도의미의 인격 교육

이라기보다는 선생이라는 지식기술 교육이다. 상황이 이를진 데 미래는 인터넷 교육이 대안교육이

될 것이고 지금 이 순간에도 상당수가언어외국어 등으로 학원을 찾는다. 이젠 인터넷으로 가정교사

"독선생"모시고 개인교습을 받는 방법이 오히려혼잡하고 소란한 세대를 조용히 관조하며 삶의 질을

높일 것 같다. 일단 한박자 늦추어 분주한 일상을탈출하여 마음의 속도를 늦출 수 있는 효과가 보다

큰 수확이 될 것 같다. 속도를 늦추면 엄청 많은것을 볼 수 있고 주변 경관을 보다 즐길 수 있다.

인터넷 교육으로 삶의속도, 생활의속도, 마음의속도,등을 줄이는 세대다. 여유와 행복과 성공이

절로 저절로 제 발로 직접몸소 찾아 들 것 같지 않습니까

E-Learning Is the Future and the Future Is Now

If you ask 10 people to name the greatest business thinker of the last century, I am willing to bet that

at least eight of them, and maybe all 10, will pick Peter Drucker.

There's a very good reason. Drucker invented the modern science of management in 1954 when he wrote The Practice of Management. When he later wrote The Effective Executive in 1965, he set the course for thousands of books about executive excellence that followed.

Drucker consistently anticipated the future - an ability that stayed with him undiminished until he passed away last year at the age of 95.

In the year 2000, Drucker predicted that the Internet would become the most important teaching tool of the 21st Century. You can read his prediction in the 2000 Forbes cover story, "Webucation is the Next Great Growth Opportunity." People are only now grasping his vision of electronic learning.

Let me share with you some of Drucker's reasons for believing that Internet-based education ("Webucation," to use his term) was poised to become the most powerful learning tool ever devised by mankind:

Every student enjoys the equivalent of a one-to-one teacher-student ratio.

• The student can learn at any time, in any place.
• Online learning is far more time-efficient and cost-efficient than classroom learning.
• A student can replay the course material as often as needed until learning is complete.
• Graphics, pictures and other resources make Webucation far more effective than classroom teaching.
• Internet learning meets a critical need, since contemporary people can no longer afford to stop learning once they earn a degree. Webucation allows successful people to keep learning throughout their lives.

Six years later, Peter Drucker's prediction is coming true at Trump University and other institutions. We only need to listen to the words of a Trump University student like Pat Lathouris from Amityville, New York, who described online learning this way: "Trump University has so many advantages over other programs. The hands-on lessons are great. They simulate working situations in the real world. The online capabilities and the ability to access the courses from anywhere make learning time flexible - a huge advantage."

Peter Drucker was right, again. Online learning truly is the future - and the future is now.
